Partnering with Guide Dogs: A Step Towards Independence
We’re proud to announce our new charity partnership with Guide Dogs, a remarkable organisation dedicated to transforming the lives of people living with sight loss across the UK. This partnership represents more than just fundraising, it’s about helping individuals gain the confidence and independence to live life to the fullest.
Celebrating National Pet Day with Purpose
As we begin this exciting partnership, the timing couldn’t be more fitting.11th April marks National Pet Day, a moment to celebrate the joy, companionship, and support that animals bring into our lives.
But for many people living with sight loss, dogs are more than companions, they are life-changers.
Guide Dogs provide independence, confidence, and freedom, enabling people to navigate the world safely and live life on their own terms. This National Pet Day, we’re proud to celebrate not just pets, but the incredible role that highly trained guide dogs play in transforming lives.
It’s a chance for all of us to reflect on the power of the human-animal bond, and to support a cause that turns that bond into something truly life-changing.
Why Guide Dogs?
There are currently around 2 million people living with sight loss in the UK, and this number is expected to double by 2050. As demand for support grows, charities like Guide Dogs rely heavily on community partnerships to continue delivering their life-changing services.
While many people associate Guide Dogs with their iconic assistance dogs, their work extends far beyond this. They provide a wide range of services tailored to people of all ages, helping individuals overcome the everyday challenges of vision impairment.
Life-Changing Support for All Ages
Guide Dogs supports:
- Children and young people – from early diagnoses support for families to specialist habilitation services that help children develop mobility and independence skills.
- Adults – through life skills training, long cane mobility, accessible technology support, and their renowned guide dog partnerships.
These services empower people to do everyday things many take for granted, like commuting to work, going shopping, or meeting friends. Helping them live independently and confidently.
A Community-Driven Mission
Although Guide Dogs operates nationally, its impact is deeply local. With:
- 5 training centres across the UK
- A national centre in Leamington Spa
- 22 community hubs in cities including London, Manchester, Cardiff, and Belfast
Their teams work directly within communities, supporting individuals in real-life environments.
This local approach ensures that every person receives tailored, meaningful support.
How We’ll Get Involved
Our partnership opens the door to a wide range of engaging and inclusive fundraising opportunities for everyone in our organisation:
Bringing the Impact to Life
One of the most exciting aspects of this partnership is the opportunity to truly connect with the cause:
- Volunteer speakers share real-life stories of living with sight loss
- Opportunities to meet guide dogs and puppy raisers at events
- The chance to name a puppy, creating a lasting legacy and a tangible connection to the difference we’re making
These experiences will help us see firsthand how our efforts are changing lives.
Making a Meaningful Difference
Everything Guide Dogs does is made possible by the support of partners and communities. Through this collaboration, our fundraising will directly contribute to helping more people with sight loss gain independence, confidence, and freedom.
This partnership isn’t just about raising money, it’s about creating opportunities, building awareness, and making a lasting impact.
We’re excited to begin this journey and look forward to sharing our progress along the way. Together, we can help change lives, one step, one partnership, and one guide dog at a time.
